applications at Vernonia Head
Start, Vernonia Cares or the
Vernonia Rural Fire District
Station.
Toy and Joy is a volunteer
program operated by the Ver
nonia Firefighters Association.
Anyone who knows of a family
needing assistance is asked to
pick up an application for the
family.
Donations may also be
made at the fire station.
Thanksgiving dinner
for those who want
to be with others
Thanksgiving Dinner will be
served at the Vernonia Senior
Center for anyone who would
like to join others in a warm
and happy atmosphere. The
dinner will served from 12:00 to
2:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving
Day, November 22, at 446
Bridge Street in Vernonia.

11. Mask makers Maranee
Sanders and Valerie Otani will
have five sessions with each
class, instructing students on
the history of masks and how to
make them. Depending on the
grade level, students will con
struct simple collage masks or
theme masks such as City
Wildlife or Native American.
Students will also perform in
ways appropriate to the masks
they make.
This event has been made
possible with funds raised by
Vernonia students last spring,
during Run for the Arts. It also
helps meet content standards
for the district-wide arts curricu
lum in place this year.
