Diners will hear performance by the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus
Kaleidoscope: A Winter Gala
will be held January 26, 2002,
by Columbia County Citizens
for Human Dignity at Buccini
Hall, St. Frederic Catholic
Church, St. Helens. Following
the dinner will be a perform
ance by the popular Portland
Gay Men’s Chorus.
Tickets at $25 per person
will be on sale at St. Helens
Book Shop and, in Scappoose,
at All About Mail in Chinook
Plaza and the Rural Organizing
Project office, 33421 S. W.
Maple Street. Tickets are also
available from Kaleidoscope
committee members: Nancy
Federici, Pat Todd, Abby Daw
son, Glenda Boehler, Pam
Powell, Pam Knaack, Ellen La
ger, Norma Olson, Marcy Wes-
terling and Joanne Pence. The
purchase of eight tickets will
reserve a table for the event.
The dinner is the fourth of its
kind to be held over the past
five years. Past events were
sponsored
by the AIDS
Prevention Team with strong
support from CCCHD. Powell,
co-chair of the AIDS Prevention
Coronation festivities scheduled
for County Fair and Rodeo Court
The 2002 Columbia County
Fair and Rodeo Court (Queen
Nicole Still, Princess Samantha
Klein and Princess Ashley
Swanson) will hold coronation
ceremonies
on
Sunday,
January 6, at 3:00 p.m. at the
Columbia County Fairgrounds
Pavilion in St. Helens.
In addition to the coronation,
there will be refreshments and
a silent auction. Cover charge
donation is $2.00 single, $3.00
couple, $4.00 family.

Team, is pleased CCCHD is
continuing the dinner. “The
AIDS Prevention Team no
longer has the grant support
that we had in the past. We’re
delighted that CCCHD is willing
to take on the job of organizing
the dinner,” Powell said. Money
raised will be used for CCCHD
programs and education.
This year’s dinner, with an
Italian theme, will be prepared
by groups of volunteers from
Scappoose and St. Helens high
schools and CCCHD. The
Scappoose catering class will
prepare the antipasto, Gary
Heide, Leslie Ramsdell and
Pam Curnutt will prepare a
rigatoni vegetable salad and a
main dish of Chicken Marsala
with roasted vegetables, as
well as a mixed green salad
with Italian dressing. To top off
the menu, the Lion Catering
group of St. Helens High
School will prepare a Rainbow
Torte.
There will also be a no-host
espresso/ltalian soda cart, run
by the St. Helens High School
Youth Transition Program and a
no host bar. Both the Lion
Catering
group and the
Scappoose Catering Class will
act as servers for the event.
