Vernonia teachers complete Intel “Teach to the Future” program
Intel® Teach to the Future, a
program to train classroom
teachers to promote project-
based learning and effectively
integrate the use of computers
into their existing curriculum so
students will increase their
learning and achievement, was
successfully completed by 22
staff members of the Vernonia
School District. The training re­
quires forty hours of hands-on
instruction delivered via ten
curricular modules.
The them es of the Intel
Teach to the Future program in­
clude:
• A focus on the ways stu­
dents and teachers can use
technology to enhance learning
through research, communica­
tion and productivity strategies
and tools
• An emphasis on “hands-
on” learning and the creation of
curricular units and evaluation
tools, which address state and
national academic and technol­
ogy standards
• Promoting engaging oppor-

Intel first trained Vernonia
teacher Doug Tesdal for one
week at Portland State Univer­
sity and one week in Eugene.
Tesdal then instructed the train­
ing in Vernonia.
