Riders annual Horse Gaming
Show will be held on Sunday,
August 5 at 9:30 a.m. in the
Anderson Park Arena.
Registration begins at 8:30
a.m. The entry fee is $5 per
event o r $15 for all day, $30
per R idge R ider fam ily, and
$40 per non-m em ber family.
This fee includes all events.

com petition: eight years and
under; 9-13 years; 14-19 years
old; 20-39; and 40 and older.

heeled shoes or boots. Stud
horses will not be allowed to
participate and no dogs are al
lowed in the arena. Camping
facilities are available.

New location for 2001 Mutt Show
The Jam boree Mutt Show
will return to the old time this
year - Saturday at 1:00 p.m. -
but will be in a new location, on
the grassy lot between homes
across from the high school.
The mutt show isn’t a “seri
ous" dog show, but is intended
to be fun for youngsters and
their dogs. In addition to the
dog categories, there will be
two age categories for han
dlers this year, under 12, and
12 and over.
For safety reasons, children
under 12 must be accom pa
nied by a parent or another re
sponsible adult. Additionally,
dogs must be kept on leashes
and muzzles must be used on
dogs that snap at either people
or other dogs.

teams - eight of each - will
meet in Vernonia for the 27th
Annual Friendship Jam boree
Softball Tournament.
Play will begin on Friday, A u
gust 3 at 6:00 p.m. and contin
ue through Sunday evening.
The games will be played on
ball fields at Vernonia High
School and Spencer Park.
Bill Hawkins, the organizer
and sponsor, and coach Nick
Berg have both been associat
ed with this event for 25 years.
