Horn, Whitehead keep their county, show championship titles
the beginning of the 2000 logging show. Presenting the trophy were Jack Sweeney and Lau-
rie Barber of Wilcox & Flegel, who sponsored the trophy, logging show chairman Bill
Woolsey and show organizer Jani Richards.
Ray Kyser started the ax throwing competition with a
four-point toss.
Logging show participants and spectators will miss the hot
saw and big smile that Les Skirvin carried to shows over
many years. Skirvin died of cancer this past spring.
Cindy Roberts struggled with her saw, but made the cut successfully.

Matt Samuelson was named winner of the Max Sword Memorial Sportsmanship Award for
the second consecutive year. The winner of this award is selected by show officials.
Jim Horn repeated his winning ways of last year by again
earning the title of Columbia ' County Logger of the Y e a r.®
