Area musicians
come together
Madeleine Gendron, a local
musician and music teacher
has, for a long time, wanted to
expand the opportunity for
area musicians to perform - so
she started a community or
chestra and choir.
Last Saturday, both groups
performed a program of classi
cal and Christmas music. The
performance was enjoyed by
about 40 people even though
there was little public notice of
the free program.
Both the choir and string or
chestra include mixed age and
mixed skill level performers.
But they all have one thing in
common...they love music...
so rehearsal time and perform
ance time are built in o their
schedules.
Gendron hopes that the
program continues to grow
and that, by next Christmas,
the string orchestra will have
expanded into a full orchestra.
In the meantime everyone in
volved appears to be having a
wonderful time.
For more information, call
Gendron at 503-429-9402.
After performances by each group, the Community Choir and String Orchestra combined for two numbers.
Love of music combined with a community activity became a unique senior project for Vernonia High School senior Myri-
am Gendron.
