Wide variety of participants in 2000 Vernonia Jamboree Parade
Charter members Jenny Siedelman, left, and Eleanor Thompson
accepted the Mayor’s Trophy on behalf of the founders of
the Vernonia Ridge Riders. Their spouses, John Siedelman
and Bob Thompson founded the saddle club in 1957. The
ladies were passengers in Rick Hobart’s Nehalem Valley
Carriage.
Above: The Vernonia High School Equestrian Team made their first official appearance.
Left: 1929 Ford Tudor, owned by Tom Tronson of Rainier, was followed by Tronson’s 1930
Model A Ford Mail Truck, which was followed by an Oregon National Guard armored vehicle.
Below Shouldn’t a really big family reunion include a parade? The descendents of Ralph
Mahar obviously thought so, as they got together for the Vernonia Jamboree Parade with a
banner, pep squad and dozens and dozens of family members.
