June seems to be bustin’ out
all over here at the Center. The
Thrift Shop is bulging at the
seams, the paper room is full of
unsorted papers and the bread
tables are full of bread, pastries
and produce, with an occasion
al tray of tomato plants.
4.
We are also the sales reps
for a cleaning product called
Sun Brite. Many of the Seniors
have tried it and recommend it.
Our cook is using it to brighten
up the pots and pans in our
kitchen. Come in and check it
out.
We are saddened at the
sudden loss of two of our peo
ple. Vernon Lindsley died
Memorial Day and his care-tak
er, Chrissie Preston, died two
days later at a Portland hospi
tal. Our condolences and
heart-felt prayers to the fami
lies.
Our cook, Linda, is taking a
few days off to vacation with
her family and Jo Ann Carter is
filling in for her. Jo Ann has
been working in the kitchen to
familiarize herself with the rou
tine for a few days. She and
her husband, Dennis, are our
Meals-on-wheels drivers.
Speaking of which; we are
now delivering meals to the
Birkenfeld area. If anyone else
needs meals and you live in
this area, call Candy Olson at
429-9112 for further informa
tion. Any donations to help with
the additional gas expense
would be appreciated greatly.
I have been asked to inform
you that the money earned
from paper folding is con
tributed to COLCO to assist
them with their expenses. We
could always use more paper
folders and, of course, cash is
always welcome.
The cook informs me that
the new menu has cooled
down to accommodate the
(hoped for) warmer days.
Hearty meals will still be served
but will often take on a cooler
form.
Willie still wants your baby
pictures. Mark them on the
back so they can be returned
later. We have received sever
al already and are having fun
looking at them. Nobody will
tell us who’s who, though.
Birthdays are as follows: 9th
Nora Keith; 12th, Gerry Baker;
16th, Isabel Anderegg
and
Juanita Berndt; 23rd, Martha
Weigant and Frank Enyart.
Have a happy one.
Check around you to see if
someone nearby needs a help
ing hand with something, espe
cially your senior neighbors.
Maybe an unmowed yard or a
leaning fence. You'll feel good
and so will they.
For further information, or if
you would like to attend, but do
not have a ride, call the church
office at 429-6790.

ration in Eugene.
