The Brown Derby Restau

reopened for business on May
3, under new ownership. Part
ners Chris and Sherry Ward
and Sherry’s parents, Curt and
Jackie Chaplin, have joined to
gether in a family-owned and
operated venture. The Wards
have lived in Forest Grove
since 1986, and the Chaplins
will be relocating here from St.
Louis, Missouri.
Chris Ward said the restau
rant has been remodeled but
the menu has remained similar
to what it was in the past. The
new owners have added pasta
dishes and will add pizza dur
ing the summer. Banquets and
meetings can be accommodat
ed.
The Brown Derby is open
Wed. through Sunday. Hours
are: Wed.-Thurs., 11:00 a.m.-
midnight; Fri.-Sat., 6:00 a.m.-

formation.
Since John Shaw bought
Vernonia Auto Parts, the busi
ness is once again owned and
operated locally. The transac
tion closed May first, but there
was no upheaval in operations
because the staff remains the
same.
One difference, however,
can be seen in management:
Janean Shaw, John’s daughter,
is managing the business, put
ting her education to work in
the family business. Janean
holds a Bachelor of science de
gree in business administra
tion, with an emphasis on fi
nance, from Portland State
University. She is also handling
financial details for Shaw Sup
ply, a business her father start
ed about 15 years ago.
Store hours will remain the
same, 8:00 a m. to 6:00 p.m.,
