m em bers, no interested citi
zens showed up at the meet
ing. The text of the proposed
Sign Ordinance is available at
Banks City Hall.
Won also gave a status re
port on the Oak Way/Hwy. 47
traffic signal and turn lane proj
ects. Problems concerning the
coordination of the tw o projects
have been resolved, and Won
said that C ity Engineer Dale
Merrell was hopeful the signal
would be installed by July.
New laws are making signif
icant changes in driver license
requirements and restrictions
for Oregon teenagers.
“The
1999
Legislature
passed laws to strengthen li
cense requirements and im
prove driver training because
teens are twice as likely as
other drivers to be involved in
fatal and injury crashes,” said
Lom a Youngs, Deputy Director,
Oregon Departm ent of Trans
portation, D river and M otor Ve-
h id e Services Division.
The Com m ission approved
two signs at the meeting.
Chevron’s petition for a price
sign was approved after corpo
rate representatives presented
photos and diagrams of the
sign, as well as where the sign
would be positioned on the
new station property. The ap
proved sign will be on the curb
edge of the station property,
will be approxim ately 4' x 8’
and will be mounted on a brick
column not to exceed 20’ in
height.
Jim ’s Market received per
mission to mount a 30” x 30” il
luminated Lottery sign to the
right of the Liquor Store sign on
the m arket’s canopy.
- Certify with parental verifi
cation that the teen has at least
50 hours of supervised driving
experience
experie nce
above.
