lunch for the whole crowd to
enjoy when they knocked off at
1:00 p.m. Tables and chairs
were put out on the deck of the
Scout Cabin and a huge crowd
enjoyed barbecued hamburg
ers, hot dogs, potato salad and
other great “picnic in the park”
foods.
The beautification project is
n’t finished, either. More flow
ers and trees are coming, cour
tesy of Vernonia Pride and
SOLV. Additionally, new trash
receptacles are being made by
the wood shop class at Vernon
ia High School. The design
also includes a planter on top
of each receptacle. Materials
for this project were funded by
SOLV, Vernonia Pride and the
Vernonia Area Chamber of
Commerce.
Anyone wanting to get in
volved in these community ac
tivities is more than welcome to
join the crowd. Call Genny
Fisher at 429-1204, or Shirlee City planner/attorney Julie Coontz and City Councilor Shirlee
Daughtry at 429-9002.
Daughtry prepared dirt, dug and planted at City Hall.
