Pacific University dance students join forces with dance company
The Pacific university dance
students will be part of a spe
cial performance with the Joint
Forces Dance Company and
the DanceAbility Project of Eu
gene on April 28 and 29 at 7:30
p.m. and April 30 at 1:00 p.m.
The concert, held at Pacific
University's Taylor-Meade Per
forming Arts Center, will in
clude the annual Pacific Uni
versity student choreography
showcase and four dances in
terspersed throughout the per
formance by the Joint Forces
Dance Com pany and the
DanceAbility Project.

jazz to modern dance.

rector Alito Alessi, with assis
tance from Pacific University
Dance Instructor Joan Gun-
ness, will teach two free work
shops on Saturday, April 29 at
the Pacific University Athletic
C enter dance studio. The
dance workshops are open to
all able and disabled persons.
The 11 a.m. to noon workshop
is for children ages six to ten,
and the adult workshop will be
held from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30

of New Dance and to cultivate
a common ground for creative
expression for all people.
Alito Alessi, who directs both
Joint Forces Dance Company
and the DanceAbility Project,
has been involved with the
evolution of Contact Improvisa
tion for the past 20 years, and
is internationally known as a pi
oneering teacher and choreog
rapher in the field of dance and
disability. His w ork has re
ceived local, national and inter
national recognition for the
past several years.
General admission for the
dance concerts is $4 for adults
and $2 for students, senior citi
zens, and children. Tickets are
available at the door or in ad
vance through the University
