Large cast busy with rehearsals for annual Easter musical drama

With a blend of music and
drama, the annual Easter Can
tata presented by the Vernonia
Community Choir has been an
eagerly anticipated event for
many years. This year promis
es to be another great perform
ance.
In addition to the all-volun
teer production of singers, ac
tors, technicians, costumers,
set designers and more, this
year’s production will feature a
libretto written by Lynda Cahill
and Allen Vetch.
“I Choose Jesus” tells the
story of a Roman soldier,
played by Vetch, and his reac
tions to the story of Jesus.
Justin Smith plays the role of
Jesus.
Soloists include Phyllis
Thornburg, Heather Smith, Nic
Welch, Sarah Naeve, Bob
Green, Shawn Naeve, Glenn
Hughes, Candy Olson and
Sandy Welch. Lee Seibert,
Marcella Seager, Lana Vetch
and Diane Benes perform as a
quartet. The director is Lynda
Cahill.
There will be three perform
ances this year, a week before
Easter. The drama will start at
7:30 p.m. on Friday and Satur
day, April 14 and 15, and at
3:00 p.m. on Sunday, the 16th.
All performances will be in the
Vernonia High School Gym.
There is no charge for admis
sion.
