Something for all ages and tastes on upcoming CTPA programs
Two very diverse programs
await theatre-goers this month
at Longview’s Columbia The
atre for the Performing Arts.
The first is Shakespeare’s
Macbeth, which will be pre
sented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday,
March 18.
Set in Scotland, Macbeth is
a classic exploration of the per
sonal and moral consequences
of ambition and the quest for
individual power. Assured by
three witches that he will be
king, and that he cannot be
killed “by any man or woman
born,” Macbeth yields to his -
and his wife’s - ambition. They
betray their king, their allies
and, they discover, themselves.
This is an edgy new produc
tion by The Acting Company,
America’s premiere touring
repertory theater. Founded in
1972 by Margot Harley and the
late John Houseman, The Act
ing Company has so far per
formed 77 plays - including 18
by Shakespeare - for more
than two-million people in 48
states and seven foreign coun
tries. Company alumni include
such fine stage actors as Lisa
Banes, Frances Conroy, Kevin
Kline and David Ogden Stiers.
