Banks Council moves
funds where needed
Showing off their finery at the Banks Winter Formal Saturday night at Tuality Health Center
in Hillsboro are, from the left, Banks students Sarah Cunningham, Sarah Hordichok, Daren
Ackerman, Mckenzie Zarnekee and Chad Vanderzanden.
Banks City Council, at its
regular meeting February 8,
approved a resolution to in
crease the appropriation for
materials and services by
$36,083. The increase was
achieved by transferring funds
from other items in the General
Fund; it will not change the to
tal budget.
The council felt that in
creased spending on services
occurred primarily because the
City has needed more services
from consultants and profes
sionals in connection with ex
ceptional projects in the com
munity.
Dexter Clark of Voice
Stream spoke to the council
about the possibility of in
stalling a 130' communications
tower in Banks. Placing it be
hind the library was discussed,
but the council felt the location
was wrong for a large, unat
tractive structure in the down
town area. It would also usurp
space needed for parking or
other City priorities.
In other business, the Coun
cil:
• Approved liquor license re
newals for Jim’s Sentry Super
market, Main Street Pizza, and
Banks Billiards Tavern;
• Approved an expenditure
of $1000 for the Banks wel
come sign. The sign will cost
