Oviatt fishing derby
enjoyed by youth
Eight-year-old Tyler Clines
won all three prizes at last
month’s Wells Oviatt Memorial
Fishing Derby. He had the
biggest, the most and the
longest fish caught.
Placing second, third and
fourth, respectively, were Gavin
Roberts and Brandon Johnson,
both eight years, and 12-year-
old Zack Agee. Each of the
children in the fishing derby re
ceived a pizza certificate and a
two-for-one hamburger from
Leonetti’s Pizza & Grill.
This was the second chil
dren’s fishing derby in honor of
Oviatt, a former city councilor
and fishing enthusiast who
taught hundreds of children to
fish, often providing the fishing
gear as well. The event was
held at Vernonia Lake.
