Josh Landers won third
place by pinning his Wahtonka
opponent, and George Vande-
hey also finished third.
Craig Enneberg missed the
tournament- due to a bout with
the flu.
Denny Peters, wrestling at
135, won his first match by a
fall. In his second match,
Peters lost in sudden-death
overtime, a match described by
Brookins as a “pure-guts inspi
rational effort”.
“Vernonia wrestling is on the
map,” said Brookins, “and
we’re continuing to improve.”
Jan. 7 Logger wrestlers par
ticipated in a tournament at
Knappa. This non-scoring
match-up included Nestucca
and Seaside High School’s
junior varsity wrestlers.
“The wrestlers were put into
four-man
brackets,”
said
Brookins, “and they wrestled
away."
Johnson and Waltz were
undefeated in two matches
apiece.
Winning two out of three
matches were Vandehey and
Landers. Both won their match
es by falls, Landers’ only loss
was to last years’ state champi
on.
Jesse Templin (152) record
ed one fall, and is improving
greatly, according to Coach
Brookins.

band were Marieke Sieben-
