We are writing to let the
people know that as a public
service, we have placed a
copy of Oregon’s House Bill
3565 in each public library of
Columbia County.
That House Bill contains
the Oregon Educational Act

for the 21st Century. It was
passed by our legislature in
1991. It is currently being im
plemented little by little begin
ning with the present school
year.
Fellow citizens, arm your
selves with knowledge. Copy
that Act and study it. If it isn't
the direction you want your
educational tax dollars to go
in, make your opinions known
to your legislature while you
can.

that were able, went to a rally
at the State Capital Bldg, in
support of a Full Repeal of

Act. It was great to be stand

early as the 1970’s.

MILDRED M. CROP
Mildred Mary Crop, 75, Banks
died March 12, 1995, at her home. A
Mass of Christian Burial was cele
brated March 17 at St. Francis of As
sisi CathMic Church in Roy, with the
Revs. Stephen Breitenstein of St.
Francis Church and Robert Cieslinski
of Beaverton as celebrants. Vault en
tombment was in Valley Memorial
Park Mausoleum, Hillsboro.
Mrs. Crop was born April 28,
1919, in Timber, to John M. and
Anna M. Kundinger Markee. She was
raised in Timber and attended school
there. She graduated from Forest
Grove High School in 1935.

She worked at the Timber Tele
phone Exchange and West Coast
Telephone in Forest Grove until she
married V.E. •Bob" Crop in 1941, in
Roy. She then worked with her hus
band at Buxton Mercantile, Banks
Red and White Store and Sunset Su
permarket for several years.
Mrs. Crop was a member of St.
Francis Catholic Church and the Al
tar Society for 50 years. She was a
volunteer with the Washington Coun
ty Election Board and was a member
of the American Association of Re
tired Persons and Local 510. Mrs.
Crop also had been active in 4-H and
as a Cub Scout den mother.
Survivors include three sons,
Roland of Banks, Sheldon of Hills
boro, and Cameron of Cornelius; a
daughter, Nadine Snyder of Everett,
Wash.; seven grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; a sister, Flo
rence Crop of Forest Grove; and a
special friend, Patti Dierickx, Banks.
She was preceded in death by
her husband in 1990, a son, Brian, in
1971, and a brother, Arthur Markee,
in 1988.
The family suggests memorial
contributions to St. Francis School
Endowment Fund or St. Mary's of the
Valley Retirement Fund.
MINNIE McGAUGHEY
Minnie McGaughey, 80. Renton,
Wash., died Feb. 27, 1995. Funeral
services were held March 3 at the
Church by the Side of the Road in
Seattle. Burial was at Elsie Cemetery
the following day.
Mrs. McGaughey was bom Dec.
¿¿¿a
15, 1914, in Portland. She married
Eugene W. McGaughey and they
lived in Elsie. She moved to Renton
six years ago.
She was a member of the Ne
halem Valley Community Church, the
Church by the Side of the Road in
Seattle, and the American Associa
tion of Retired Persons.
Survivors include a son, John of
Federal Way, Wash.; three grandchil
dren; seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
her husband a few years ago.
Memorial contributions may be to
the American Diabetes Association.
BONNIE B. MILLER
Bonnie B. Miller, 87, Hillsboro,
died March 13, 1995, at a foster care
home. Graveside sendees were held
March 17 at Skyline Memorial Gar
dens, Portland.
Mrs. M iller was born June 4,
1907, at Gallop, Mont., to Fred and
G ertie Duncan Ballard. She was
raised and educated in Gallop.
She m oved to Vernonia and
worked in domestic house cleaning.
She married Claude Miller and
they lived in Mill City, Forest Grove,
Beaverton and Eugene.
Mrs. M iller was a m em ber of
Cedar Mills Bible Church.
She was preceded In death by
her husband.
Survivors include her son, Gor
don of Beaverton; four grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews.
Remembrances may be sent to
the American Cancer Society.
