Apple Valley Market now open all year

and Christmas trees can all
be found at the Apple Valley
M arket, the co rn e r of NW
Sunset Highway and Fisher
Road in Buxton.
Kirk Benifiel, a native of
Banks, has been operating
the roadside stand since Au-
gust and, during the past few
m onths, has m anaged to
change with the seasons, first
selling fresh produce, then
becoming a Chantrelle mush-
room buyer in the fall, now
selling Christmas trees, but
always having fresh apples
available.
Benifiel will continue to of-
fer a variety of items, guided
by both the seasons and his
customers.
The market is located next
to one of the last Gravenstein
orchards in the area, with 850
fruitin9 trees and an addition-
al eight varieties of apples.
Benifiel, a senior loan offi-
cer for a Hillsboro bank in his
other life, plans to continue
the business, occasionally
using contractors, but relying
primarily on himself and his
friend, Donna Pnillips, who is
also a loan officer.

open weekends only. In May,
Benefiel will again open the
market daily. Handmade it-
ems on consignment are wel-
come.
