gon Together program will be
held Jan ua ry 10, 1995, at
3 :3 0 p.m . in th e V ernonia
School District office.
Oregon Together is a pro

healthy children and families.
It is sponsored by the Co-
lumbia County Commission
on Children & Families (CC-
CCF).
A major part of Oregon To
gether is a program called
“Communities That Care”, a
risk focused approach to re
ducing adolescent problem
behaviors.
Risk-focused prevention is
based on a simple premise:
To prevent a problem from
happening, we need to identi-

fy the factors that increase
the opportunity for that prob
lem to develop.
The program is aimed at
reducing adolescent antiso
cial behavior such as sub
stance abuse, delinquency,
violence, teen pregnancy and
school drop-out.
“ I’ve a lw a ys been im
pressed with the creativity
and energy in Vernonia,” said
Jan Spika, director of CCC-
CF. “ I encourage interested
people to take part in this
training; it will help you keep
what you have in place and
get to where you would like to
be.”
For more inform ation on
the program and the training
session, call Spika in St. He
lens, 397-7211.
