Spar Tree Restaurant reopens with Gloria back in the kitchen
In recent weeks, the Spar
Tree Restaurant has closed
its doors only to reopen with
a familiar face on the scene.
G lo ria A tc h le y has re
turned to run G loria's Spar
Tree Restaurant, after a two
year absence in which the
b u s in e s s was le a se d to
someone else.
Many people who patron
ize d the re s ta u ra n t from
1987 to1992 will be pleased
to know that she returns with
renewed vigor for the future
of the business as well as for
the good, hom e cooked
meals with generous portions
that likely stand out in your
memory. Part of her menu will
in c lu d e hom em ade pies,
cakes and, yes, cream pies to
satisfy the sweet tooth.
Also returning to the busi
ness is S herry Peck, who
was a w a itre s s th e re for
many years . However, Gloria
has drawn from her own fami
ly to locate a manager. Atch
ley’s daughter, Shauna Bai
ley, will have that title.
The doors opened on July
first at twelve noon and quite
evident was the team -work
th a t allo w ed it to happen.
Members of Atchley’s family
looked somewhat frazzled as
they added finishing touches
to the building.
The restaurant will be open
Tuesday through Thursday 5
a.m.-8 p.m., Fridays 5-9, Sat
urdays 8-9 and Sundays 8-8,
w ith M onday being th e ir
closed day. Atchley adds that
if Monday is a holiday, the
doors will be open and the
"o ff” day w ill be Tuesday.
There will be daily specials
for breakfast lunch and din
ner, breakfast served all day
and during hunting season
will be open at four a.m.

rA Now Meeting at Lew’s Place
If you can't come to Grat-
teri's, Gratteri’s will now come
to you.
Gratteri’s Les Schwab tire
store in Forest Grove has be
gun offering tire service to
those who can't bring their
vehicles to the shop, by ob
taining a truck which will al
low them to go to the location
of a job site and perform the
same service that would be
available at their store.
The service man who will
be attending to the upper Ne
halem valley is no stranger to
either the tire repair business
or the area. He is Bruce Hep-
ler, of Vernonia, and many
who require mobile services
already know him. Hepler is a
veteran in the tire business,
having w orked fo r C row n
Zellerbach for fifteen years in
that capacity; then leaving
there and continuing for the
last eight years at Gratteri’s.
Hepler won’t be alone in his
efforts to serve the area; he
w ill be joined by Chris M c
Glothen, another G ratte ri’s
employee who knows the val
ley well.
The m obile s e rv ic e w ill
provide the same quality ser
vice that G ra tte ri’s has o f
fered for twenty-three years,
focusing on heavy-duty tires
and com m ercial b a tte rie s.
Hepler or McGlothen will be
attending this area every Fri
day. The service will be ex
panded to include another
day, if the need should arise.
For now, how ever, if you
should need their services for
lo g g in g eq uipm e nt, farm
equipment or any heavy ma
ch in e ry, ca ll G ra tte ri’s at
(503)357-3136.
