positive feedback, and it
enabled people to participate
who have been limited from
doing so in the past because
of the narrow defi nition.
Throughout the night,
Bruce Smith served as the
DJ, while Justin Grafton
Studios managed a photo
booth.
The event included a raf-
fl e drawing for prizes such
as candy, mugs and stuff ed
animals, which was made
possible through the spon-
sorships, Ousley said.
The recreation district
also had plenty of help
running the event from
staff members and vol-
unteers. Jennifer Gooch
brought several Seaside
middle schoolers from the
builders club, and a hand-
ful of high school seniors
also volunteered as part
of their Pacifi ca projects.
They stayed busy through-
out the night, restocking the
refreshments.
They also pitched in for
setup and cleaning at the
end of the night. As the
facility is used for the dis-
trict’s childcare program,
Ousley said, they appreci-
ated the extra hands to get
it ready for use the follow-
ing week.
“We
were
really
thrilled with all the help
we received in putting the
dance on,” she added.
The recreation district
has two upcoming commu-
nity events:
• It’s About Time: Fun
All Comer Swim Meet, 4
to 5 p.m., Friday, April 1,
and Splash-a-Thon, 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2.
This is a fundraiser to help
the swim team purchase
a new timing system and
replace the diving blocks.
• Seaside’s Free Annual
Community Egg Hunt,
10 a.m. to noon, Satur-
day, April 16, at Broadway
Park.
