Seussical the Musical at Seaside High School Seaside Signal S easide High School’s Drama Department will bring to the stage “Seussical the Musical” Feb. 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22, and is presented through special arrange- ment with Music Theatre International. The musical is directed by teacher Ann Susee, with SHS grad Dylan Han- son as the assistant direc- tor and SHS grad Makena Anderson as the choreog- rapher. The musical direc- tor is SHS choir teacher Kimber Parker. “Seussical the Musi- cal” is a compilation of Dr. Seuss stories including “Horton Hears a Who”, “Horton Hatches an Egg” and “The Grinch”. Famil- iar characters such as Thing 1 and Thing 2, Yer- tle the Turtle, Gertrude McFuzz, Wickersham Brothers and the Sour Kangaroo are also present. Senior Lukas Jolly stars as the empathetic elephant Horton, while senior Frida Ruff stars as the Cat in the Hat. Neuwirth stars as JoJo, the Who, and soph- omore Olivia Mayhugh, understudy for the Cat in the Hat, will perform in the title role on Friday, Feb. 14, and Thursday, Feb. 20. In preparation for the move to a combined mid- dle/high school next year, Susee has brought onto the cast a few middle- and grade-schoolers as Whos. The stage crew, oth- erwise known as Thing 1 and Thing 2, are soph- omores Chelsee Fenton and Mary Barnes. Lights and sound crew include Jude Gomez, Lucas Neu- wirth and Connor Jackson. Other students helping with the play include Josie Kero and Caitlyn Shaw. All performances will be in the SHS cafetorium and shows begin promptly at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30, and tickets are sold at the door. Prices for Seussical the Musical are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students 12 and above without an ASB card, and $6 for stu- dents under the age of 12 and students with SHS ASB cards.
