Seaside resident John Dunzer read the proclama- tion declaring Nov. 11 Vet- erans Remembrance Day, with the goal to “encour- age all Americans to recog- nize and remember the valor and sacrifi ce of our veterans through appropriate pub- lic ceremonies and private prayers.” The proclamation, unan- imously endorsed by mem- bers of the City Council, recalled the “unbroken line of valor stretching across more than two centuries.” Veterans from all branches of the U.S. mili- tary, active duty, reserve and National Guard are recog- nized by the proclamation. Also on the agenda, Sea- side’s Mark Hansen, a Viet- nam war veteran, presented plans for a granite memo- rial to be installed in Seltzer Park in Seaside’s Cove. The plaque will honor veterans who attended Seaside High School. The plaque is estimated at a cost of about $14,000, to be raised from contributions. About $1,000 is already donated, Hansen said. Ninety Seaside High School attendees served in the Vietnam war he said. Their names will be memo- rialized on the plaque. “It was very good to hear The Astorian A Seaside man pleaded no contest Wednesday, Oct. 22, to robbery in the fi rst degree, driving under the infl uence of intoxicants and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
