Seaside Signal
The Seaside wrestling
team is getting ready for a
“heavy” season in 2017-18.
The Gulls will definitely be
busy when wrestlers in the
upper weights take to the mat.
Of the 14 athletes on the
Seaside pre-season roster,
11 compete at 152 pounds or
higher, with six wrestlers at
182 or above.
The Cowapa
Whether it’s the 4A Cowa-
pa League or the Special Dis-
trict 1/4A league, the compe-
tition is first rate, as the Gulls
can attest.
Results of last year’s one-
day Cowapa League meet
showed Tillamook with 451
first place points, followed
by Scappoose (281), Banks
(267.5), Astoria (87.5) and
Seaside (57).
In the Special District 1
meet the following week,
Crook County racked up
429.5 points to take the title,
ahead of Tillamook (363),
Banks (229), Scappoose
(179.5), Molalla (148), Es-
tacada (139), Gladstone
(111.5), Madras (66), Astoria
(44), Corbett (42) and Seaside
(19).
There is good news for the
Gulls and head coach Danny
Taylor — Andrew Gastelum
and Luke Nelson had third-
place finishes for Seaside in
the Cowapa League meet; and
