‘Skavenger’s Hunt’
author at Beach Books
Beach Books celebrates Small Business Saturday on
Saturday, Nov. 25, with a reading by Portland author and
screenwriter Mike Rich. The screenwriter of “Finding For-
rester,” “Cars 3” and “Secretariat,” Rich will read from his
middle grade novel, “Skavenger’s Hunt” at 2 p.m. in the
Loft at Beach Books. The event is free.
“Skavenger’s Hunt” is Rich’s first mid-
dle-grade fiction.
On Saturday, Dec. 2. Beach Books
and Dough Dough Bakery host Cheryl
Wakerhauser, owner of Pix Patisserie in
Portland, and the author of the “Modern
French Bakery Cookbook.”
On Saturday, Dec. 9, at 5 p.m.,
Beach Books book representatives will
provide gift-giving suggestions to cus-
tomers, along with holiday drinks, light bites, tea-tast-
ings, and discounts. RSVP to 503-738-3500 by Dec. 5.
On Saturday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m., Beach Books and Dough
Dough Bakery and Fermentation Station host a cookie and
story-time celebration for kids of all ages.
Beach Books will have their wishing tree festooned with
book requests from the four school libraries in the Seaside
School District. Customers who donate receive a 20 percent
discount on books for the library and also on a book for
themselves.
