Therapy dogs showcased at ‘Friend-Raiser’
Dog lovers are invit-
ed to the Angel on a Leash
Friend-Raiser
Thursday,
March 16, from 5:30 to 8
p.m. at the Astoria Golf and
Country Club, 33445 Sunset
Beach Lane, Warrenton. The
event provides an opportunity
to learn about the Providence
Seaside Hospital therapy dog
program, how they might
support the program by reg-
istering to become a therapy
dog handler, and to meet-
and-greet David and Cherilyn
Frei and their dogs, Angel and
Grace.
Providence Seaside Hos-
pital recently introduced
four-legged volunteers to its
campus and they’re gaining
popularity with each visit.
Therapy dogs emphasize care
of the whole person by ac-
knowledging and affirming
one’s emotional, physical and
spiritual connection to ani-
mals and its interconnected-
ness to health and healing.
Cherilyn Frei is the direc-
tor of mission integration and
spiritual care and David Frei
was the first volunteer han-
dler to bring a therapy dog to
the patients in Seaside. The
event is free and “Angel on a
Leash” books will available
for signing.
