The cans and boxes of food were collected during
the aquarium’s annual holiday food drive, which
spans from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day. During
the food drive, held annually for 15 years, people get
admission to the aquarium for two cans or boxes of
food. This year, more than 587 people from 58 dif-
ferent locations — including 11 different states, Can-
ada and Mexico — participated, donating 1,222 food

in general, “the donations this year have been phe-
nomenal.” Throughout the winter months, the food
pantry has received numerous donations and in large
amounts from various organizations and groups, she
