Although Shop Small Sat- urday was created by Amer- ican Express, businesses do not have to accept American Express to participate in a neighborhood event. Neigh- borhoods across the country are being encouraged to host events to bring together their communities and encourage local shopping. At least 15 businesses from the historic Gilbert District of downtown Seaside, which en- compasses the four city blocks on the corners of Broadway and Holladay Drive, will par- ticipate in 2015. The amount of support given to this event is amazing, products include Shop Small canvas tote bags, buttons, banners, posters and national advertising, provided at no charge to participating businesses.
