L. J. Padgett has lought Win. Stone’s
town lots. He expects to build a fine
residence on this property in the spring.
Mr. Padgett says Keno is good enough
for biui and has abandoned the idea of
going to Ashland.
Tbe Adams dredger is dredging the
river below the sawmill, on the Snow
goose ranch for tbe purpose of making a
boat landing. This will also be used by
Ackley and Towers to put logs hi the
river to be sawed at tbe Ackley sawmill
at Klamath Falls. This will make a
fine landing place which will be in
great demand. While dredging near
the hank of the river a fine white sand
was discovered, just like (»each sand,
and is without dirt or gravel. There is
an abundance of it.
A short distance from this place some
prospectors a year or two ago found a
substance which looked like Portland
cement. This substance has not yet
been developed, but it is reported to be
in large quantities. Snowgoose seems
to know where the place is.
A few days ago Sam Pool came near
meeting with a serious accident while
loading saw logs on a wagon. When
putting on the top log be was trying to
place it with a cant hook, and the hook
broke its hold and Sam fell to the
ground the handle striking him on the
throat and the book on the breast and
side tearing thb flesh to tbe bone. He
was laid up for a few days but is at
work again.
The new dock is now completed. The
next thing on the docket is a new ware
house which will be built in the near
future.
DAIRY

Dairy is pleaisantly situated on the
west side of Yonna Valley, near the
center of Klamath County. It has
two good general stores with enter
prising, up-to-date dealers who enjoy
a large trade from surrounding val
leys; a hotel and feed barn, and a
school house. It is surrounded by a
rich farming community with which
it is connected by a farmers’ tele
phone line and also a long distance
line. Is on the stage line, twenty
miles east of Klamath Falls.
Gedfried Beck has purchased a new
spring wagon.
William Uhrman has decided to re
move from his ranch to this town for
the winter, in order that his children
may attend school. He has purchased
a home here.
Grandma Logue came down last Sun
day to see her new grandson.

Last week showed the high water
mark in school attendance at the Dairy
school. Twenty-four pupils answered
the roll call, and only two cases of
tardiness were reported.
Professor
Hall is giving splendid satisfaction.
The pupils are taking a great interest in
their school work.
The new repairs for the Bennett sepa
rator were brought in from the railroad
Saturday by Sy Pool. The machine is
lieing put together at Bonanza and
ought to Ire ready for business this
week. This will be glad news to the
fa merit of this valley, for the threshing
of their grain would have been a ser
ious question for them to solve if Mr.
Bennett had been unable to place his
machine in tbe field again thia year.
Mrs. Helen Roberts died at the home
of her son, Orrin McCumber, Monday,
October 8. Death was due to cancer of
the stomach. Mrs. Roberts was 84
years old. The funeral was held Tues
day, interment being in the Bonanza
cemetery. She is survived by her two
children, Mr. McCumber, of this place
and Mrs. Gurnsev of Red Bluff, Calif.
Mrs. J. W. Hatnakar and »on, Roy,
left for the east Tuesday, expecting to
be absent several weeks. They will
visit Mrs. ffatnakar's old home in
Iowa, and may possibly extend their
trip to Washington, D. C , and New
