It would seem that throughout the

Nearly every community in the elate is
hard at work trying to secure some of
the colonist travel that starts from the
eastern states next month and will con
tinue throughout all of September.
Heretofore every person who came to
Oregon had but one objective point—
Portland. The reason for this was that
they knew no other. They went to the
depot to buy a ticket and asked the ad-
vice of the ticket agent and lie knew no
other and consequently the colonist was
I illed through t» Portl ind. Now if lie
had had any idea of coming to Klamath
person w ho does it. It is a work that
they should l>«< complimented lor under
taking, and the man who so far forgets
liis gentlemanly instincts as to vent his
eusaedness on it shows very poor judge
ment.*
The question has been raised as to the
adv isibility of taking the liHiid to Sacra
mento. This should be dour. There
are few things that this county could do
that would attract so much attention
as the band boys. It is an organisation
that any community should be proud of.
If they go to Sacramento they will do
mote to advertise this county than any
other one thing. The boys are willing
to give their time and their services
without costing a nick!«*. all they ask 1»
that their railroad fare bo paid. This
is a small item and they should Is- “sent
t<> the front*' to help boost Klamath.
The people here want to make such a
showing that there will la* but olio sec
tion in evidence and that section Klam
ath county, but this cannot l*c done
unless there is a united effort.
Relative to the funds to defray the ex-
penses of the exhibit,
Everyone
should contribute, whether a business
num, laborer or landowner, or whether
the amount is 2’> cents or |25. This is a
popular affair, it is not gotten up for
the Iwncfit of-individuals. Everyone in
the community will la* benefit led and
accodingly everyone should contribute
his or her mite. There is not a section
in the state wlieresueh apathy could pre
vail, and it s]H*aks badly for Klamath
that such n condition should arise here.
Unless it is stamped out. it will result
in blocking the wheels of progress that
are so well under way and cause those
who refuse to help a loss a thousand
times greater than the amount they re
fuse t<> contribute.
