Cary Looaley anticipates attending the State University at Eugene the last half of tlie school year. The literary last Friday evening was unusually interesting on account of the school children’s debate. Mias Myrtle Love of Central Point is eifiected here the last of the week and will remain during the spring and sum mer months. A continuous rain for four days and nights has dispensed with all the snow in Wood River valley, and if the nice weather continues, it will be only a short time until stock will thrive on the grass. MERRILL. Merrill is situated in the southern pint of Klamath county, very near the center of tlie Klamath Project. It has a population of 600. Is well supplied with gissl business houses. Has many fine homes. Telephone«, long distance and borne. Will soon have water works, be located on a branch of of the Califor nia Northeastern, now being built into Klamath Basin. Will lie one of the b"«t towns in the county. Has tine public school. William R.JIavif visited Merrill Fri day and Saturday. The river has fallen alsiut five feet and no serious damage was done to its bridges. Silas Obencbain was in Merrill Tues day attending to some business. Friday evening, February Nth, about 25 couples enjoyed a very sociable even ing at the residence of N. S, Merrill, it being the birthday of Mrs. N. S. Merrill. Games weie indulged in until 11:30 when the spacious dining room was thrown open and all invited to partake of a tine spread of delicacies, which loaded the tables. After supper the friends wished Mrs. Merrill many happy return« of the same date. She was the recipient of many handsome presents. Mrs. E. B. Hall and Mrs. William P. Davis’ birthdays coming on the same day, were there to enjoy the fun. Carpenters commenced work on the counters and fixtures in the bank Mon day. Tilings on the inside of the bank will present a different appearance in a i couple of weeks. Roy Ilamaker was in Merrill Monday. N. S. Merrill left for California Mon day and will be absent a couple of ! weeks. William R. Davis left for San Fran cisco Monday. J. B. Mitchell has been in town sev eral days. The Merrill Dramatic Club played to a well tilled house Saturday evening. They presented “Borderland," a com edy drama in three acts. The club de serves great credit for the efficient man ner in which they presented it. Many traveling troupes could not have «lone as well.
