The Central Oregonian at Silver
Lake aaya: “There has been consid
erable talk going around during the
past few months among the citizens
of this section and Klainath county In
regards to a twlce-a-week mall ser
vice from Silver Lake to Fort Klam
ath and connect with the Klamath
Falls stage at that point. We have
been informed that a petition will be
! circulated in the near future asking
' the department to grant a mall ser
vice via this route. Thia is a matter
of public importance to the people of
northern Lake county, aa a mall ser
vice by that route would corinevl the
people of this valley In direct com
munication with Klamath county
and the rallroari. There is no ques
tion but that there would be sufficient
mall to entitle a twice-a-week service,
although a mall service by till« route
was refused by the department some
years ago, but as thia part uf the
counlry ha« undergone a radical
change In development of both popu
lation and wealth during the past
few year« that now entitle« us to bel
ter mail services than we have had
Hie pleasure of enjoying heretofore.
A petition would be signed by every
patron of this office and no doubt
would meet with the same result at
the Fort.”
Here is a chance for the citizens of
Fort Klamath to do a little hustling.
They should get up a petition and
•ee that everybody algns It and by ere
operating with the people from Sil
ver Lake, they can establish a twlce-
a-week mail service. There Is no
greater Inducement for the settler or
homeseeker than a good mail serilcr,
so If you want to bolld up your coun
try see that you get It.
