The alum powder wist« but a few cents a pound to make, aud is often sold at 20 or 25 cents a pound; sometimes as low as 10 cents It is imjaaMible to name all the alum powders in the market, but any baking powder sold at a low price, or adver tised as costing much loss than the well known, high class powders, or accompauiud by a present, or disposed of under any scheme, is of this class, detrimental to health and to be avoided.
