PAGE FOURTEEN THE NEWS AND THE HERALD. KLAMATH FALLS. OREGON Mar mx Mabheti and fyincHuUcd L NEW YORK. May IS AP Bearish implications of war and labor news from Wall street's angle today received the princi pal blame for turning a mild ear ly stock market rally into a re treat. Transfers were around 450, 000 shares. Union controversies in the au tomotive, shipping and coal fields, and threats of a nearby railway wage battle, helped chill sentiment, brokers said. In addition, bulletins from Euro pean sectors, including the per sistent mystery of the Hess flight from Germany, served to revive nervousness among spec ulative forces. A fairly good business news budget was bol stering for individual stocks but ignored elsewhere. Mav 13 Wheat prices tumbled about Iwo!""' ? (AI!-1l,f"1"'' cents a bushel today after reach ing new 12-month peaks early in the session. Profit taking earned the reac tion which was regarded largely as technical in view of yester day's sharp upswing culminating a rist of about 10 cents a bushel in the past two weeks. The market encountered some support at times in the form of buying associated with brisk flour business. Profit taking was encouraged by increased sales of . wheat at some terminals, favor-1 able crop reports, and advices I pointing out that Canadian ! wheat is near an import basis because of high domestic prices. ; Wheat closed lt-lic lower j than yesterday.
