Almost 100 Klamath Falli baseball fani witnessed an lus
picious debut of the Pelican baseball club In state league compe
tition Sunday afternoon at Bend ai the locala (luffed out a 8-4.
triumph over the Elks in the season'! opener for both cluba.
Pitcher Orin Davis of the Pelicans won his own ball fame
in the fourth inning with a three-run homer over the left field
fence. Just prior to Davis' four-ply swat Catcher Warren Wahner
had sacrificed runners to third
to be hits only because they
were headed straight for the
fielders.
Next Sunday the Pelicans

five-game losing streak to open
the way for the Pippins' climb
into a first place tie. In the
first game of the Sunday dou
ble bill, Tacoma downed Spo
kane 6-3. Spokane came back
for a 4-3 triumph in the night
