The Klamath county chamber
of commerce la authorized this
year to Issue camp fire permits
for Ilogue River, Fremont, Des
chutes and Shasta national for
eata, according to Secretary Carl
C. Reynolds. Tbe aeason opens
July 1.
For many years, tbe chamber
haa laaued permlta for aome of
these forests, the number running
Into hundreds.
The authority haa been granted
the local agency because no regu
lar forest office la maintained
here and many portions of the
forests may be entered from this
point without first passing a for
est service station. The service
to the public haa been much ap
preciated In paat yeara. Judging
from reporta reaching the cham
ber. Tbe chamber of commerce staff
la extremely careful about the
lsauance of permlta, and apendf
time with each permittee In ex
plaining the rulea and regulations
and urging the utmost caution In
the use of fire in the woods.
The permits are for campflret
on national forest landa. No per
mit la required when the camping
la done on an established forest
camp, where there are camping
facilities and fire places.
