Hornsby Takes
Second Base and
Cubs' Hopes Soar
VALON. Santa Catallna Is
land. Calif., Feb. 20. (UP) The
1931 prospects of the Chicago
Cubs were brightened today by
the appearance of Manager
Rogers Hornsby at his old posi
tion at second base.
He went through 20 minutes
of vigorous fileJlng practice with
no apparent distress from the
broken ankle or injured heel that
kept him out of tbe lineup last
season.
When practice ended, Horns
by said the ankle and heel felt
perfectly normal and the manner
in which be covered ground sur
prised bis fellow players. With
Hornsby playing regularly, the
Cubs are expected to pack an
added punch.
