To the Interested public of
Klamath Fans
I am a candidate for Mayor of Klamath Falls and promise
the voters if they elect me next Tuesday to make this xily the
business center that it should be with all of the industry and
pay rolls now operating in this county.
I have lived here for many years and the people know me.
They know that the unpleasant things said in this campaign
about me are false; that I am not an obstructionist; that I am
not the leader nor the candidate of any clique or combine, or
business institution, neither am I the candidate of any vice ring.
Look up my life aud compare it with the record of any man
running for office in the city or county. You will find that
these. 'whispering" stories are only propaganda started to in
jure my candidacy. t; 1 v
My service to the city will be unselfish service and will not
be centered to aid any institution as against another. The
Square Deal will hold good with me. .
Having served on the City Council I am familiar with city
government and I know when, the city is getting! a dollar's
worth of goods or service for every dollar expended. I also can
locate the weak points in city business and I promise you that
they will not go through. ;
Outside contractors and outside labor will not be used if
home-owning citizens can.be employed.
I shall represent no corporations while in office, neither will
I accept any fees or commissions from railroads or other con
cerns doing business with the city. .
It is my contention that no man can serve two masters at the
same time. When I am Mayor of Klamath Falls there will be no
others for me to consider.
I believe sincerely we have been expending loo much of the
property owners' money for improvements. In many instances
there could have been a saving in public work, and every dol
lar saved to property owners is keeping money in their poc
kets to spend for other purposes. . ,
We are about to enter a long delayed sewer building pro
gram. As Mayor I will give that project personal supervision
and not trust the money raised from the people of Klamath to
be spent by outsiders who have nothing at stake here except
the fees and salaries they obtain. '' I , , ,
The increased expenses of this city are not justified. They
are entirely out of proportion to what they should be and I ask
the citizens who have their fortunes invested in Klamath Falls
lo look well to the future and think of the lax load, their prop
erly is carrying, much of which could be saved.
The ballyhooihg of my opponents means little. Their desire
lo throw mud is apparent. Mud slinging does not make a suc
cessful city administration, but I ask the fair minded people of
Klamath Falls to consider the mud balls that are being thrown
in order that a condition in city affairs may remain rather
than have new blood on the job that .wilt stand by. home peo
ple, employ home labor, refuse to permit railroads from usur
