Klamath Scouts
Enjoy Big Hike
On Saturday, December t, the
tint all city hike was held.
Eighteen bo), Tendertcet and Sec
ond Class Scouts, under the lead
ership of Scout Executive E. O.
Nord. and Senior Patrol Leader
Merle Swaneon or troop I. left the
chamber of commerce at 10 a. ni.,
marching In single file for the
bike objective. Fort Rock, on the
old Fort Klamath road. While
on the hike the boys practiced
one of their scout songs and yells
and after reaching their destination
they began to prepare for the var
ious teats. The Tenderfeet psssed
(eats In cooking, use of knife and
hatchet, compass and tracking while
the Second Class Scouts passed
tests in advanced cooking, signal
ling, axe work, and judging dis
tance, weight and sise. Soma of
the cooking dishes were tine, es
pecially the Hunter's stew, made
' by the Massey boys. All the boys
made their own tires with only
one match to pass the fire build
ing test.

Successful Meet
. Longfellows of Klamath Falls
turned out well last night when a
meeting of the group was called
by Everett O. Nord, temporary
chairman. In tse chamber of com
merce rooms. The constitution and
by-laws of the organization were
adopted during the session.
The tallest man present was six
. feet and eleven Inches, the short
est msn was six feet even.
On Wednesday evening at 7:30
In the chamber of commerce the
annnal meeting of the group will
be leld, followed by a feed after
the meeting. Officers will be elect
ed and the directors named.

FROM JURY DUTY
, PCEBLO. Colo., Dec 4. (United
Press) A plumber, A. W. Lawson,
appeared for jury duty In district
court here with his helper.
"What la your trade!" the court
asked.
"I am a plumber, your honor,"
Lawson replied.
"Then yon haven't many friends,"
.the court observed.
When order had been restored,
Lawson was asked if he had brought
along his helper.
"I have," said Lawson, "there
he is."
"I'm afraid you would want blm
to alt In the jury box. Yon are ex
cased," the Judge declared.
Lawson was allowed ft for ap
pearing for duty, but court officials
refused to allow his helper any tees,
announcing that the state does not
recognize that a plumber needs a
