coroner'. Jury yesterday afternoon
placed the blame for the accident on
Ted Jackson, of Sprague river, and
recommended that his case be fur
ther Investigated by the county
grand Jury when It next convenes.
The coroner's Jury listened to the
testimony or 14 witnesses, who
gathered In the small courtroom ot
Justice of the Peace Ed Kendall,
before It returned Its verdict. All
of the witnesses, with the exception
or Jackson, swore they railed to see
a mysterious fourth man who, he
claimed, took the wheel rrom him
and robbed him of 130. Last night
Jackson was held in the county Jail.
The accident, in which no' leas
than five persons were involved, oc
cured about four o'clock, about
three miles east or Altamont. After
the machine had ' careened : Into a
ditch at .the left-hand side of . the
highway, the- Lowver woman was
found to be dead; Miss Josephine
Jackson was rushed to a local hos
pital suffering "from a rrtcAur ft
shoulder, and Jackson, the alleged
driver, was said to be badly bruised
about the lower limbs. .
Those who testified at the hearing
were Ted Jackson, who at first re
fused to take the stand; Henry San

state penitentiary, left Prinevllle,

third sentence, this time for five
years. Charged with burglary, Tuel
was Indicted Thursday by the grand
