THE KLAMATH DAILY NEWS
AN INDEPENDENT
REPUBLICAN NEWSPAPER
"Let at hve faith that
that faith let u to the end
understand it." Abraham
Uiis'l Tomorrow
November 12 "Faithful Forever"
In commemorating Armistice Day, No
vember I I , as a tribute to the cessation of the
greatest conflict the world has ever known,
let us, like those silent heroes who made such
day possible, be faithful unto death faith
ful to the ghostly armies of sons of men whose
temples, stricken down mid golden dreams
of youth, gave all that we might live free from
the shadow of oppression.
Observance of Armistice Day should be
a day of rejoicing. With the passing years it
may not be as spontaneous perhaps, as the
November 1 1 , when news was first flashed
across wires and sky, telling those at home
that the war was over, but still a day to be
fraught with gladness.
But, in the carrying out of our various
programs, some thought should be reserved
for those who, still living, harbor within them
jagged wounds of sorrow from cruelly barbed
arrows of grief, fate's recompense for loved
ones given upon the sacrificial alter of war's
grim toll.
Unto them also should we pay tribute even
as to these whom the mystic shadows of death
liave rr.ysLeriously enfolded; unto the hordes
that now lie beneath commingling blue. of.
cornflower and sky upon far-flung fields of
Flanders, and still other historic battle grounds
across the sea.
Unto them let us be faithful and true until
the mystic tomorrow wafts us, too, from the
fleeting twilight of life's eventide into the
deepening shadows of eternal night.
Who Wins
Checking the Election Returns
The News extends heartiest congratula
tions to the gentlemen who carried the district
election yesterday. They have an enviable or
ganization and are entitled in full measure to
the huge majority shown on the tally sheet.
Between The News and the successful
candidates there must remain, 'however, an
'honest difference of opinion. Usually one
side wins an election but it is sincerely felt
both side3 lost in yesterday's results. And
both sides represents the community at large.
The reclamation service ha3 made many
grievous errors. And these errors must be
corrected. If they can be corrected in con
gress, well and good. But the prediction is
made that there will be no recommendation
for the development of Tule lake this year.
The election result did that.
, There is a chance that Congressman Nick
J. Sinnott may be offered Dr. Work's place in
the cabinet. Those who know President
Coolidge doubt it, yet stranger things have
happened. It 13 the one chance for develop
ment now before this district and The News
wants only the best for, Klamath.
The feeling must persist that both sides
lost.

Must girl "fling her Ideals to
the winds" to be popular with the
young men of today? la the "old
fashioned girl" doomed to be lone
some? A young woman, writing
me a Inter, declares that men do
not tnlua sincerity In woman
any more.
!rar Mr. Thompson: I am
what men term an old-fashioned
girl. My hair Is not bobbed. I
do not wear extreme clothes, even
thoukh I dress nicely and use good
taste In the selection of my ap
partl. and 1 do not use lipstick,
or rouge In other words. I, like
a few other girls, try to retain Hie
natural beauty of the features and
character Intended for us. Again,
I have Bniir admired frivolous
minded girl or buys. And I've
always been looked upon as very
dignified and ri-flned because of
my attitude. Consniuently If for
no other reasons than theso I've
given above. I remain In my mid
dle twenties a lonesome girl. I
have had very few dates In my life
compared with what great many
girls have had. Ilu! one reason la
that I like ta be associated with
the right kind of people. I like
men who are noble In character
and who still have the same re
spect for a girt that men one
had. I will not allow myself to
have friendships with men who
haven't the best regard for tru
friendships. ' I've always been
sincere sn. honorable in il my
dealings with my friends hoys
or girls. 1 have always felt It a
part of my spiritual duty. Hut
do the men appreciate sincerity?
No. they do not. They treat it as
a mockery. They laugh at a girl
who Is sincere and trne. They are
not entirely to blame. A prac
tice of so much Insincerity has
caused most men to unconscious
ly doubt a slnrero girl. Never
theless, It does not hurt the few
who still cling to honorable Ideals
to be the laughing stork of today.
Some men say that they liko to
have their "good times" with the
