Keep slzfc Issue in Sight
Let's Pull Toge:lu:r Li.;.. KUmn:k Falls Gets thtFrU
Dust has been stirred by those who
would sacrifice Klamath Falls to serve per
sonal ends. Straw men have been set up ar.d
with great splashing of printer's ink and
much noise, knocked down airain. Our
friend, the enemy, was even misled on Sat
urday night into the indecency of anonymous
attack, to say nothing about taking liberties
with the truth.
All of this, however, is beside the ques
tion although all prompted by a desire on
somebody to keep the real issue from the peo
ple most interested.
The one big. outstanding feature in all
the proposed railroad development for Ore
gon is, as far as Klamath Falls and Klamath
county are concerned, the main line east
through Klamath and Modcc counties via
lule Lake.
The construction is of paramount im
portance to Oregon and to Northern Califor
nia and everybody who has any vital inter- ;
est in tms part of the state particularly should
jise every possible means to impress upon the
Interstate" CnarraercemmisorT now" in
session at .Portland that nothing must inter
fere with our getting this main line east.
If the people of Klamath Falls had been
asked to write their own railroad program
W .TfVt have done better for Klamath
Southern Pacific is offering us.
If this program goes through, Klamath
Fa! will have not only main line service to
Portland and San Francisco; not only a ter
minal with a payroll of $100,000 a month.
t main line east, which, besides opening
' rat stch of fertile territory will put
at least 200 miles nearer the east and mid-
than would the plan of the Oregon
!
