CAMDEN, N. J., Aug. 15.

crushed, the bodies of Mrs.
Cathcrline Audie and her 3-ycur-old
Hon, John, were found
today partially buried under
a pile of coal in the cellar of
their home here.
Both mother and child had
been murdered with a blood
stained mallet, which lay near
the bodies.
Tho mother wns dead when
the bodies were discovered,

boy died shortly afterward.
Joseph Gentile, a cousin of
Mrs. 'Audia and "star boarder"
at her home, fuund the bodies
and reported the double mur
der to the police. He was held
without bail, pending an in

Cattle And Sheep Freight

Southern Lines
A reduction in freight rates
on stock shipments from Klam
ath county to points south was
announced by the Southern
Pacific company here last
night.
Certain of the reductions are
of a material nature, and will
affect local stockmen whose
sheep, goats and hogs will be
shipped from Klamath Falls,
Lenz, Kirk, Chiloquin and Mid
land to San Francisco, Oak
land and San Jose.
In the future, it was also
announced, the cattle rate be
tween Lenz and San Francis
co, Oakland and San Jose will
be $133. Between Lenz and
Sacramento, Perkins and
Swanston, the rate will be
$126 per car. These rates will j
become effective September i
19th. I
The reductions were voluntary,
and were made public after J. J. I

STOCKYARDS FIRE
CHICAGO, Aug. 15.
(United Press) Through
dense gray clouds of belching
smoke from the olco plant of
the Hammond Packing com
pany, fire fighters tonight at
tempted to extinguish a blaze
that already had caused dam
age in excess of $500,000 and
was not yet under control.
The six-story building in the
heart of the union stock yards,
was gutted before dark, and
fire apparatus from all sections
of Chicago's south side was
summoned to prevent the
flames from leaping to nearby
structures.
Six firemen were overcome
in tho smoke that poured from
the burning vats, but all were
revived. Company officials
