THE FUTILITY OF IT
The arrest of a man in Anderson, Calif., Monday,
who is alleged to have stolen a car in Klamath Falls
last November eight months ago should serve as
a warning and should go a long way toward demon
strating the futility of stealing a car and "getting
away with it"
The man, reports say, has a wife. He was work
ing, regularly. Evidently he ,had settled down
shortly after stealing the car. Eight months it took
'Klamath authorities to land him but eventually
they got him.
' Imagine the fear that came over this man as he
rode alongtwith his diie, past a traffic officer in
a stolen car. - And now he faces a term in state's pri
son, if he is convicted. Does it pay?

What good would it do? The Ewauna Box Com

it do? It would throw hundreds of honest working
people out of work. A fine way to advance the in

! ' AFTER THE BALL IS OVER
State Prohibition Director Levens' hands are
tied here, just now, with a larceny charge hanging
over his head. Rumor has it, however, that as soon
as Mr. Levens is acquitted, the state prohibition force
will entrain for Klamath Falls. And oh, what a bat
ting average, with 42 houses of ill-fame and a regi
ment of bootleggers, running wide open!
But there'd be a fly in his ointment. How many
convictions would he get?
YOUNG BOB LA FOLLETTE
It is highly appropriate that young Bob La Follet
te should seek his father's honorable place in the
United States senate.
He has long been associated with his father.
Those intimately connected say that young Bob did
much of the work of his parent during the later years
of his hfe and that the latter depended much on the
junior. He has, they say, inherited his father's polit
ical views, his nerve and much of his ability
What would be more fitting than for Wisconsin
to send to the senate the son of the man who labored
so long and so sincerely in behalf of that state? Who
could better fill the father's Mte seat during the
remainder of the term? What better compliment
