Pelican Squawks
Behind Weed For League Honors
The McCloud baseball machine, which had up until Sun
day been at the top of the porcentage column from the first
game of the season, was dumped over for the second time by
the Pelicans Sunday, when E'.mer Street pitched his team
mates to a brilliant victory. Blot out the last two innings and
it would have been a shutout, and a mean one.

SlcClood Cracking
The McClouds are simply crack
ing nnder the strain. They aren't
the team they were during the first
half of the season. Another team
that is cracking Is Treks. In fact,
as the season simmers down to l'n
tell-tale days, Klamath Falls und
Weed seem to be the tvb who will

Fierce Rally Checked
' On the other hand, the Pelicans
started walloping from the very
first. Doc Noel and Frenchy Bay
ness got in good licks nearly every,
trip to the plate. ,
The storm clouds blackened for
the Pelicans in the 8th inning, bat
not to threatening proportions.
Street, who had worked hard, was
virtually worn ont. Two home runs
and a slashing two-hap..- nm.H
the McClouds their first runs of the
game. Bat there was plenty of mar
gin by the 12 to 8 score, and the
Klamath rooters felt safe and secure.
But the big guns boomed In the
9th. The first five" men up hit
safely and five runs were chalked
up before the fans could fancy it.
That was Just the thrill needed to
jaiz up the game. Mohler relieved
Street with one down, and the game
enaea when Bert Arnold made
sensational catch of a foul ball.
