Tbe State Senate of Wisconsin has
unanimously passed a resolution
which was sabsequenUy adopted un
animously by the Assembly, appeal
ing to the electors of "the American
Hall of Faroe to honor the name of
Christopher Latham Sholes."
The resolution asks this honor for
a native son because, it reads, be
"gave to the world one of its great
est inventions, the typewriter, which
has been of incalculable value to in
dustrial, business and social life."
This official endorsement by a
State of the Union, of the candidacy
of "the father of the typewriter"
follows similar action by several na
tional and local organisations,
among them the National Shorthand
Reporters' Association, which has
