Many matters of interest were j
discussed, among which was the j
question of wage agreements with
the general contractors; It being ap- j
parent that something should be j
done to stabilize the building indus
try in this city. No increase is be
ing sought at this time.
The formation of a Building
Trades Council was also considered,
as the recent chartering of the plas
terers and other basic trades in the
indui'ry makes this. move possible.
The union pledged support to the
retail merchants in maintaining the
6 o'clock closing hour, and hare de
cided to do all their shopping early
in the day, it bring the sentiment of
the meeting that a longer day would
be duuluiental to the interests of
the workers in the stores.
