BASEBALL REIGNS!
Baseball the game that grips and gets "under your
skin" in such a way that you're a kid again. Horse racing
may be the sport of kings, but fandom is ruled bv base
ball. Apropos of fandom's reign, the baseball ssason has
opened in Klamath Falls auspiciously, with an exhibition
and an attendance which insures the success of the 1925
Klamath-Siskiyou baseball league.
Sunday afternoon saw fifteen hundred hearty-lunged
euthusiasts congregated at the ball park, obvious to the
cares and worries of everyday a pair of hours in which
trials and tribulations were forgotten and clean, enthrall
ing sport indulged in.
Klamath Falls is ind?ed fortunate in having a peo
ple who are always willing to encourage and support
sports or movements which tend to make life moie
worthwhile.
Yes, Klamath Falls is behind its baseball team, and
has proven it conclusively.

WHATDOES THE FUTURE HOLD
Not far from our office is a shop window in which
there is a nice, new, golden-oak desk and office chair,
and looking at it makes us wonder what is going to hap
pen to that combination.
Somebody is going to buy that desk and chair and
rent an office and get a name painted on the door. Will
all the pretty plans he has at first blow up into nothing
or will a business be started that will grow and grow
into a prideful thing?
Will he be a crook or an honest man? Will-he
scheme to sell wildcat stocks to folks who can ill afford
to lose, or will he so order his affairs that investors will
rise up and call him blessed?
And at times will he sit at that desk and in that chair
and worry about a note due on the morrow, or will his
face soften with smiles at the thought that across that
desk comes the honest wherewithal to make his home and
home folks happier? . . . , .. -

GETTING THE MOST OUT OF ROADS
o
Practically every county in the United States has
many mi'es of good rock macadam highways which have
outlived tiieir usefulness from the standpoint of carrying
modern motor vehicle traffic. Thousands of dollars a
mile have been spent in building and maintaining these
old roads. To save this investment of the taxpayers is a
duty which devolves upon county commissioners and
boards of supervisors.
Instead of tearing up these roads, it has been suc
cessfully demonstrated in many states that they can be
used as a base for a waterproof asphaltic concrete sur
face at a saving of from $6,000 to $10,000 a mile.
Extension of this type of road paving is saving tax
payers over the country millions of doll
hundreds of miles of hard surfaced highways which could

Hack in the early days of radio broadcasting, the pro
gram mannpvr didn't have to worry about "filling" his
time on tin; air. One or more phonographs and an auto
matic piano were fixture nf the broadcasting studio, and
