EL PASO, Texas. May H. The
American-Mexican conference (or
the suppression of border smuggling,
opens here Friday morning with
emissaries of both nationi definitely
committed to the formulation of
some policy for "mutual protection
against border outlawry."
"It is the administration's hope
that the conference will draft s
series of treaties for the curbing of
smuggling, and the solution of other
border problems," said Brig. Cen.
Lincoln (". Andrews, director of fed
eral prohibition enforcement, on his
arrival here to attend the parley.
Discussions by the Mexican dt le
gation will be led by Lie Primo
Villa Michel, personal, representa
tive of President P. Ellas Calles. of
Mexico. Sr. Michel arrived Wednesday.
The conferees will convene at 10
a. in., Kridav, for a preliminary
order of business, and will then ad
journ until Monday.
